What I Can Do For You As Your Digital Marketer

As I wrap up my last winter quarter at Western Washington University, I’ve been reflecting on all that I’ve learned these past 10 weeks. It was my first quarter fully in the marketing concentration, so needless to say, I’ve learned a TON. Mark Staton is primarily the one responsible for this, as his Digital Marketing course is filled to the brim with a variety of concepts. Each class, we covered a new topic ranging from PPC to coding to email. Today, I’ll be sharing how I can help you as your go-to digital marketer, using the skills that I learned in this course.

Content Creation

When I think of my ideal future career, I think of one full of creativity and helping others in any way that I can. In the world of marketing, this looks like being a content creator. One of my favorite topics covered this quarter was organic social media. I think that it’s the best tool to increase brand awareness, build relationships with customers, and bring personality to the brand. We also learned a bit about paid social media and I can’t wait to begin strategically using both concepts to build up my personal brand and my future clients’ brands. I have multiple years of experience in social media management and this new knowledge will undoubtedly increase my success.

Of course, you can’t talk about content creation without talking about inbound marketing. Inbound, or content, marketing attracts customers by offering value to them at no cost. There are many forms of inbound marketing, but some of the most popular methods include tutorials, Q&As, and blogging. If I’m going to be honest, this quarter has almost felt like an extremely long inbound marketing campaign. I’ve written over 10 blogs on a wide variety of topics and have been working to find ways to organically promote my personal brand in my other class, Integrated Marketing Communications. Heck, I even worked on that last link I just shared! Whether it be a video, blog, webpage, or social media post, I have the skills needed to get people genuinely interested in your brand. Feel free to explore my portfolio if you’d like to see some more of my work.

Analysis

One of the first things we accomplished in Digital Marketing was getting certified in Google Analytics. In 2023, this is especially valuable because Google is currently in the process of updating their analytical software. Although the new system is quite similar to its predecessor, there are some key differences that are important to know. Since I was certified so recently, I have the knowledge needed to help make the transition go smoothly for businesses of any kind.

In the course, we also discussed a wide range of key performance indicators, or KPIs. These are important to examine, as they can help determine whether or not your efforts are worth your limited resources. By consistently reviewing the correct KPIs (engagement for social media, CTR for emails, CPM for advertising, etc.), your company can cut what’s not working and replicate what is. This leaves more time, energy, and resources for what really matters - successfully growing your business.

Optimization

The last area that I’d like to discuss today goes hand-in-hand with KPIs: optimization! If you’re a small business owner, you know that there’s always so much to do with not enough time to do it. If you’re spending your precious time on something, you want to make sure that you’re doing it right. Here’s two ways that I can help you get the most bang for your buck:

  • SEO: SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is the process of continually updating a website so that it is more favored by search engines. This helps the page rank higher on search result pages, meaning more viewers and potential customers visit your site. There’s a lot of little things that go into SEO, such as keywords, page hierarchy, and accessibility. I was recently certified in SEO Fundamentals by HubSpot Academy, so I have the latest tools and knowledge needed to help your website reach its fullest potential.

  • A/B testing: This is when two versions of something, whether it be a button on a website or a font used for a graphic, are shared with two separate groups of consumers. Data is then gathered and analyzed to determine which option performed better. I can help you throughout this entire process, from creating the two versions to running the test to selecting the best option!

Overall, this Digital Marketing course has changed my life as a marketer. I’ve been exposed to new concepts, improved my already-existing skills, and gained some serious confidence. I can’t wait to begin freelancing once I graduate this June and I hope to onboard you as one of my clients. If you’d like to work with me, please email simone@lake.marketing or message me on LinkedIn. Thank you for reading and happy hiring!
